The Judge Claudette White Memorial Award is given to applicants who are pursuing a law degree or a college degree with the goal of a career in Inidan child welfare. Each Judge Claudette White Memorial Award is given with a $500 honorarium.

AMARIAH DEAMUSATEGUI

Amariah is a Ka’waika and Shiwinna tribal citizen currently living on Dakota Land in Minneapolis, MN. She is currently pursuing her Master of Social work at Augsburg University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Arizona. 

 

As a Laguna and Zuni Pueblo mother, she is passionate about community mental health for elders, children and families. Her focus is on improving the relationship between the people and their culture to reestablish the connections to land, body and spirit that have been around since time immemorial. She is blessed with a daughter who she treasures.
